Recently a UK newspaper published an article about Yaqub Hussain’s amazing journey from ex-convict to top solicitor. Yaqub’s was instrumental in the acquittal of Donald Stewart-Whyte in the Transatlantic Liquid Bomb plot despite not even being a qualified solicitor at the time. Before Donald Stewart-Whyte regained his freedom and was re-united with his wife and young daughter he spent 3 hellish years between Belmarsh Prison and house arrest waiting for the verdict. The film One Last Hope currently being developed by Mikkel Juel Iversen (also a producer at Dignity Entertainment) draws inspiration from the case of Donald Stewart-Whyte.

Donald Stewart-Whyte only converted to Islam a few months before he was arrested as a suspect in the Transatlantic Liquid Bomb terror plot. For 3 days he didn’t know what he was arrested for and 3 days turned into a 3 year long nightmare between Belmarsh Prison, house arrest and the prospect of a life sentence. In September 2009 Donald was cleared of all charges related to the Liquid Bomb terror plot.

Parts of the news media were quick to brand Donald the “New Face of Terrorism” only days after his arrest showing no regard for the principle of “innocent until proven guilty”. After Donald was cleared off all terrorism charges BBC produced an interview allowing Donald to explain the ordeal he had been subjected to. The interview was broadcast on BBC News and you can watch it by clicking on the link below:

One Last Hope tells the inspiring story of a trainee solicitor who takes on the legal establishment to save an innocent teenager from lifetime imprisonment in UK’s largest terrorist trial. This most unlikely hero refuses to let a system influenced by politics, the media and greed destroy the life of an innocent teenager. He shows us that with courage and hope we have the power accomplish against all odds.

As police strike to foil a terrorist attack on the scale of 9/11 a British teenage Muslim convert is arrested. Immediately the media brand him the new face of terrorism as he is white middle class with a Christian upbringing. Despite distinct lack of evidence the teenager looks doomed for life imprisonment. But a young British Pakistani trainee solicitor refuses to let the teenager go down without a fight. An ex-convict who used to live on the streets he is no ordinary trainee solicitor…and he plays by his own rules.

One Last Hope is inspired by real events and is being developed by Mikkel Juel Iversen outside Dignity Entertainment.

Rights of Passage tells the adventure of a British born 16 year old teenager whose deceitful father sends him to Pakistan on a “holiday” to marry him off to the hideous daughter of a village chief. His only chance to cling onto his freedom is to escape back to England before the wedding day but he is pitted against a village ready to kill.

Arriving in Islamabad airport the teenager is stripped of his passport before being transported to a small rural village hours from the city. When learning he has been set up for marriage he refuses. Two days of torture leaves him on the verge of death…agreeing to the marriage is his only chance of survival. But to retain his freedom he must escape!

Rights of Passage asks the question…”what is life without freedom?”. This modern day David and Goliath tale will inspire teenagers globally to face their fears to conquer their dreams.

Rights of Passage is inspired by real events and is currently in development.
